Happy Friday!
I hope this finds you all well and that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We are only two short weeks away from our winter break!

Next week we will host our Holiday Shop. Information has gone home regarding this fun event for our students. If you have any questions, please call us or stop by the PJES PTVO Facebook Page for immediate questions as the PTVO is the coordinator of this event.

If you have not done so already, please send your RSVP in for our Math Night. We will be hosting math night on Wednesday, December 10 from 5-7 p.m. Please see the flyer sent home for more information!

The cold weather is upon us! We have put up our giving tree in our main hallway. Each year our giving tree allows students to access hats and gloved when and if needed. We are in need of donations of hats and gloves. This tree stays up until the cold weather is gone! Usually it is taken down in March! If you can donate items, please drop them off in our front office or send them in with your child's teacher and they will be added to our tree. We thank you in advance for warming our hearts and hands with your generosity!

Please see the flyer for information regarding the mobile food pantry give away!

Winter Delays and Closings Information

As winter weather approaches, we want to ensure all families are informed about how Page Jackson Elementary School handles delays and closings. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. When snow, ice, or hazardous road conditions occur, Jefferson County Schools carefully monitors the weather and road conditions before making decisions.

If a two-hour delay is announced, school will begin two hours later than the normal start time. If school must be closed for the day, all in-person classes and school activities will be canceled.
Families will be notified of delays or closings through the Jefferson County Schools website, School Messenger alerts, local news stations, and official district social media pages. Please make sure your contact information is up to date to receive important announcements quickly.

During winter months, we encourage families to dress students warmly and allow extra travel time when conditions are uncertain. Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to keep our school community safe throughout the winter season.

Snow Day Policy

The first five snow days are built into the school calendar and will not require makeup work.
Days 6–10 will be take-home packet learning.
NO DEVICES WILL BE TAKEN HOME FOR PAGE JACKSON STUDENTS.
Please check your student’s daily folder to find your child’s Take-Home Winter Weather Packet.
If 10 or more snow days are needed, makeup days may be added later in the year. This could affect Spring Break or other scheduled days off.

You should have received your child's report card today. Should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher. We will be holding Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 6, 2025. More information regarding conferences will be coming home.

We started W.I.N. this week. This is our targeted intervention program for reading. They may tell you they go to a second grade teacher or a kindergarten teacher, we assign students based on their skill not grade level. If you have questions regarding W.I.N. please reach out to Mrs. Shaffer!

Happy Fall and it is FRIDAY!
We hope you all had an amazing week of learning! We have completed ALL volunteer trainings for the 2025-2026 school year. Teachers will be receiving lists of the parents/guardians/families that attended our trainings so they are aware of who is able to come in. Each time you come, you must have a valid photo ID.

It is so hard to believe we are moving into October this week! I feel like the first quarter has zoomed by. Your students are growing and learning more each day. One of the items that we are teaching and focusing on is compliance with teacher requests. We often have students say, "NO," when asked to perform a non preferred task. Please review with your child that their day will be filled with preferred and non preferred activities. Help them cope when they are faced with something that they may not want to do. We offer opportunities for a First, Then, calming tools and locations, break cards, and choices throughout their day. Have you heard of the LSIC? It is our Local School Improvement Council? Curious, we will be having our first meeting on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in our library. Come out and help improve our school!

Another great week! We are working on several items. First, we are working on making sure your child is making it on time and to school daily! I will be reaching out to you as a source of assistance if your child is late or missing school. I am here to help you! It is hard to believe we will be starting our fourth week of school! Friday, September 12th marks the halfway point in the third quarter. You should receive a letter from your child's teacher containing what we have been working on the past four weeks. After the first quarter, you will receive a progress report with standards that have been taught along with your child's progress on meeting those standards.

The week of 9/8-9/12 we will continue to work on encouraging our students to wear colors which supports our kindergarten standards. On Monday, wear orange, Tuesday wear purple, Wednesday wear grey, Thursday wear Red, White, and Blue in honor of Patriot Day, and on Friday wear blue!

If you attended our volunteer training last year you should have received a packed to sign and return. Please fill out the packet in its entirety so that we can add you to our volunteer list for the 2025-2026 school year. If you attended last year's training and received a packet you do not need to attend any more trainings. If you have not attended a training our first volunteer training will be on Monday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m. in our cafeteria. Please bring your valid photo ID and enter through door 7. If you can't attend, no worries there are two more opportunities this year!

September is Attendance Awareness month in WV! At Page, we are providing prizes to those students who arrive on time and remain in school all day. It is vital your child attend school daily unless they are sick!

On Tuesday, September 9th, the PJE K Kids will be participating in the annual, "Day of Caring." These students will be cleaning up our outdoor spaces. Thank you to our students for making a difference.

Lunch visitation has begun! Need to know important lunch information? Please visit the jcswv.org webpage, choose the schools tab and then choose the menu link. You will see "PJE Lunch Visits" under the Families tab. We list lunch times and important need to know information prior to attending. We look forward to spending lunch time with you.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Once completed, you will get a report on how your child has performed and what supports we will be providing during our W.I.N. literacy block. W.I.N. stands for, "What I Need." It is an intervention plan tailored to your child's needs. We will also use this data to initiate math intervention.

In the month of September we encourage all students and staff to participate in Kindergarten Color Day. This is a fun way to learn our colors and is completely voluntary!

9/2 Wear Red

9/3 Wear White

9/4 Wear Yellow

9/5 Wear Black

This week you received a handout regarding volunteering at Page Jackson. If you attended the training last year, it is good for two years. You should have received a paper today with instructions on how to renew your volunteer information if you attended last year's training. If you are new to volunteering our first volunteer training is on Monday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m. in our Cafeteria. In order to attend you must present a valid photo idea at the office. There are 3 opportunities to attend this training. There will be no exceptions this year if you do not attend.

Just a reminder if you plan on eating lunch with your child we kick off that opportunity Tuesday, September 2, 2025 with our first grade families. We have assigned days when you may visit lunch. Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to lunch so you can get checked into the office. You must have a valid photo ID or you will not be permitted to come. We cannot accept ID's on phones, as we must run your ID through our system. You may only bring lunch for your child and we do not allow siblings to attend lunch. Mondays, Kindergarten families can attend, Tuesdays are for First grade and Wednesdays are for second grade.
