JCS Families,

Jefferson County Schools will operate on a modified Non-Traditional Instruction Day (NTID) on Monday, March 16. All evening activities are canceled.

This decision was made after monitoring the weather throughout the weekend and consulting with the National Weather Service Charleston, WV, office this evening. Forecasted severe storms, including high winds up to 80 mph, heavy rain, and the potential for tornadoes, are creating too much uncertainty to plan for either an early or standard dismissal tomorrow afternoon. Keeping students at home helps us avoid putting them or our staff in harm's way.

What This Means for Your Student:

- Students will not report to school tomorrow and will complete their learning from home.
- K–5 students will find assignments and information posted in Rooms, as we did not send devices home for Canvas access.
- 6–12 students should follow the normal NTID process and connect with their teachers through their usual platforms.
- Teachers and staff will be available to support students from 9:15 am – 12:00 pm.

All LSIC meetings scheduled for tomorrow are cancelled and will be rescheduled. Math Field Day has been postponed to Wednesday, March 18.

Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we work to keep everyone safe.

We know fresh air rejuvenates us all here at Page and look forward when we can return to the playground! We will be taking down our giving tree that has helped our students with cold winter weather hats and gloves in March.

Have you checked our lost and found lately? We have so many coats and jackets. If you are missing an item, please come in during our school hours 8:40-3:30 and take a look. If we do not have these items claimed by the end of March they will be boxed up for the year.

JUST A REMINDER THAT WINTER WEATHER IS UPON US!! STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE LASTEST INFORMATION ON DELAYS AND CLOSINGS.

Winter Delays and Closings Information

As winter weather approaches, we want to ensure all families are informed about how Page Jackson Elementary School handles delays and closings. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. When snow, ice, or hazardous road conditions occur, Jefferson County Schools carefully monitors the weather and road conditions before making decisions.

If a two-hour delay is announced, school will begin two hours later than the normal start time. If school must be closed for the day, all in-person classes and school activities will be canceled.
Families will be notified of delays or closings through the Jefferson County Schools website, School Messenger alerts, local news stations, and official district social media pages. Please make sure your contact information is up to date to receive important announcements quickly.

During winter months, we encourage families to dress students warmly and allow extra travel time when conditions are uncertain. Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to keep our school community safe throughout the winter season.

Snow Day Policy

The first five snow days are built into the school calendar and will not require makeup work.
Days 6–10 will be take-home packet learning.

Please check your student’s daily folder to find your child’s Take-Home Winter Weather Packet.
