CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual new teachers' luncheon on Tuesday, officially welcoming new educators starting their careers with Jefferson County Schools (JCS) to the area. A total of 54 new professionals are entering the school system this year, similar to the number of educators welcomed in years past. New Educator Orientation was held at Washington High School on August 10 and 11, beginning with a session on Tuesday focusing on technology, cultural unity, and a review of state policies. The Wednesday session covered the SAT and IEP process, mandatory reporting, Social Emotion Support, and communication.

           A total of 44 new educators took a break from orientation activities to enjoy the meal provided by Chic-fil-A at Charles Washington Hall in Charles Town on Tuesday. They will each receive a welcome packet filled with small gifts from local businesses and organizations. JCS Superintendent Dr. Bondy Shay Gibson welcomed new staff members, thanking them for sharing their talents with the children of Jefferson County. JCS Teacher of the Year, Jennifer Cogle, and Service Person of the Year, Heather Pindell, also shared words of inspiration with the incoming employees.

Students return to school on August 23.
